The Saddest Song I've Ever Heard.

Last week I drove all the way up to Scotland with two of my sons for Dougie MacLean's "Perthshire Amber Festival", where we partook of a veritable feast of music from some of the finest singers, songwriters & instrumentalists from around the world. Little did I know that I would meet a guy, Jon Vezner, from The States, then love his songs straightaway, so much so that I bought two of his albums that he kindly signed for me. I then spent the following afternoon in tears, after hearing probably the saddest song I ever heard, "Wiser Man Than Me".

Jon was once asked by his father just why he wrote so many Sad Songs, to which Jon replied,

"That's what pays my wages!" (LOL)

I have watched this video several times now & it has become symbolic of my marriage. We went through light, shade, happy times & sad, then after going through a dark tunnel, I ended up with a locked gate in front of me & I had to turn back & drive away. (Sniff!!!)

i am from germany so i dont understand every single word but it touchs my soul and my heart. i dont know why. its the emotional voice and the piano, i think. a great song.

Thanks for posting the video. I doubt I would have come across the song otherwise. I have never heard of Jon Vezner, but I’m going out to get his CD now.

No doubt most of us have felt the words of the song at some point in our lives. Everybody should have their heart broken at least once.

If I was told that there was a road or a pathway to heven....... this would be it , you might be escorted on your way with family and friends as you walk through ,and then as the camera stops ,thats were you must continue to the white gates alone and there you will meet your maker .... beautiful video, not mad about the song and a pity about the bit of noise at tha start and the end , but I guess its realtime , but hay really beautiful enjoyed it .
