The Calif. Department of General Services announced on 9/19/2011 that the state's central utility plant has become the third state facility to receive LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) Platinum, the highest level of "green" building design certification awarded by the U.S. Green Building Council. The plant provides chilled water and steam to cool and heat 23 state-owned buildings in downtown Sacramento
