The New Middle East Lecture Series is meant to address the prospects for change and the likely new dynamics in the Middle East. Our aim is to both place the most recent events in historical approach and deepen the quality of discussions on the Middle East in Washington D.C. By inviting distinguished scholars whose in-depth research and analyses have shaped and made significant contributions to the field of Middle East Studies, we aim to achieve an informed discussion. While there are extensive discussions on what the American policies should look like and what American interests are in the region, what is often missing is a true recognition of regional dynamics on their own account. This program's purpose will be to make a meaningful and informed contribution to the often narrowly defined policy discussions in the Middle East.
