This is such a beautiful song, with its iresitable dreamy melody and beautiful music, this song reminds me slightly of 'I should tell you' from RENT.
LYRICS:
Liquid crystal digital readout,
Floating on a sea of grey.
Help me fall asleep,
I'm tired, it's nearly the break of day.
Never stopping, always running,
Your characters fade into one.
Comforting, convinient. Silently mocking us.
Reminding us of our mortality.
Liquid crystal digital readout,
Dividing the day away.
Counting slowly, measuring moments,
If you could talk, what would you say?
When the one becomes the two
Then the two is all there is
Until it fades into three,
And the two has vanished, like the one but
Can one moment mean more than the rest?
Like the moment when she kissed me?
Was it real? And were the others fake?
Or did my heart play a dirty trick on my mind?
Did Elizabeth see into my soul?
Was there even a soul to see?
Clock on the wall you say don't waste the time
Or the energy to find out.
Liquid crystal digital readout,
Winking at us night and day.
Everyone does it. There's no point,
Draw no conclusions, that's the way.
There is no redemption, just perfect faces.
Look at the colours, enjoy the display.
Cast no shadow, make no impression.
There is no empathy, only apathy so.
No moment means more than the rest,
Like that moment she held my hand,
It wasn't real, it was empty and fake,
And my heart played a dirty trick on my mind.
How could anyone see into my soul
Cause there isnt a soul to see?
Anyway, I dont have the time
Nor the energy to find out.
Liquid crystal digital readout
Laughing at us all the way
No limits, no ties, just lies, no roots, no trees,
No trees........
No
There is no god, or love, just time,
Saying "Do what you will. Nothing's real today"
We are fleeting numbers, and images
Like the liquid crystal digital readout,
Floating on the sea of grey.
RIP Jonathan Larson - Genius.
that man taught me more than any teacher or parent could... and he probably doesnt know i exist. i was born 9 months and one day after Rent came out and unfortunately, the day he passed... so, he never knew me... but i feel a connection to him now because of Rent and Tick, Tick... BOOM!
So, Thank you, Jonathan Larson for being a true friend and being there when you physically couldn't be..
