[For all the Welsh People out there!]

Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau is the Welsh national anthem. The tune and words were the work of the father and son team of Evan James (1809 - 1878) and James James (1833 - 1902).

Lyrics:
Cymraeg :
Mae hen wlad fy nhadau yn annwyl i mi
Gwlad beirdd a chantorion enwogion o fri
Ei gwrol ryfelwr, gwlad garwyr tra mad
Tros ryddid collasant eu gwaed.

Gwlad Gwlad,
Pleidiol wyf i'm gwlad,
Tra mor yn fur i'r bur hoff bau
O bydded i'r hen iaith barhau

English:
Land of my Fathers, O land of the free,
A land of poets and minstrels, famed men.
Her brave warriors, patriots much blessed,
It was for freedom that they lost their blood.

Wales! Wales!,
I am devoted to my country.
So long as the sea is a wall to this fair beautiful land,
May the ancient language remain.

  • WALES FOREVER!

  • What an anthem.. the lyrics are so powerful, I love how they are not about any leaders or crap they are about a free country and a reminder that people have died for Wales and it really is the land of our fathers and our home today not the governments...

  • @saltavi The Monarchy have many different origins, but as the modern monarcky used posh names that the English use most commonly, have english accents and represent England, I don't think you can call them primarily German today. This is my opinion. Do not violate it.

  • @Eddsaysftw Lol no, they're German. They changed their original German name to Windsor because of fears during WW2.

The only Welsh they have in their veins is from the Tudors and they died out with Elizabeth. The last proper regent we had was Llewellyn and Owain.

  • The most beautiful, the most powerful, the most honourable.

The anthem of my own and me, and all those who are and want to be Welsh.

Decent and proud. Cymru am byth,

  • TT~TT this me prod to welsh

  • @TaffTalk Mainly the only monarchy I like was the Tudors. They brought me Protestantism which I follow today, and gave the Welsh rights.

  • @TaffTalk Many people today think that the Queen and the Windsors are all English. It's wrong. The Queens has Welsh backgrounds from the Tudors, like you mentioned, Scottish backgrounds from the Stuarts, German French etc etc. But seriously though, the modern Windsors I admit aren't too bad (Charles is a prick) but the Normans kept attempting to take away everyones freedom, even the English didn't have any rights. But many other houses let the people of England take the blame and abuse.

  • @TaffTalk Yeah, I guess you did. Longshanks was a right prick, before him we just wanted to be English and leave you, the Scots and the Irish alone until he came to power and tried to frantically conquer everyone.

  • @Eddsaysftw I'm Welsh, but a monarchist. I guess we had our revenge for what Longshanks did to us when the Welsh Tudor's took the throne of England after the Battle of Bosworth.

  • :' )

  • I'm English and I love Wales, but I don't think it's fair how we don't get an anthem (GSTQ is the British one) and Wales and Scotland do :( who cares about the queen anyway?? All the monarchy have ever done is frantically tried to conquer the world, make the English look like pricks (especially Edward I, sorry Wales), and take no responsibility for the past. Greetings from England, England forever, Cymru Am Byth.
