@twiga999 Good! Listen, Like I said earlier my daughter was on 18 different chemo drugs during treatment. The side effects were horrible and I did not want to tax her body with any more chemicals. Plus the medications did not work to prevent the mouth sores. I was forced to find another answer besides a feeding tube. That's the terrible situation we were in. L-glutamine helped her incredibly -through a very rough time. Deb

@debwitter Maybe you have not noticed but I do not make a dime from my website. Nor do I sell any products or make commissions from any products. Thank you for your input. Not interested in a fight with you. Life is about choices. We made many difficult choices during the 2.5 years of cancer treatment for my daughter. I like providing other options. You can choose what ever you like and if it works for you great! Deb

@twiga999 Your information is incorrect. Supplements produced in the USA follow very strict FDA standards. L-Glutamine is proven, low cost with NO known side effects. It was involved in a national study with transplant patients. Our oncologists approved of its use and knew all about it. I prefer NATURAL especially when cancer patients are overloaded with toxic chemicals already. If you like Caphosol great! I am not knocking it. I like to give people choices. Good luck to you. Deb

@twiga999 Found two positive ones. A Double-blinded, placebo-controlled trial on IV L-alanyl-L-glutamine. Reduced incidence of oral mucositis following chemoradiotherapy in patients with head-and-neck cancer. Looked good but it was more than glutamine given plus it was IV. The Aquino trial in children getting BMTs with l-glutamine appeared to work, but when given IV. I'm struggling to find evidence for orally administered. Maybe it works best IV?

@twiga999 and check out this one: American Journal of Clinical Oncology:
June 1999 - Volume 22 - Issue 3 - pp 258-261 Conclusion. No benefit of adding gluatmine to ice chips. In 5-FU patients
And this: Int J Radiat Oncol Biol Phys. 2000 Feb 1;46(3):535-9. Results oral Glutamine did not reduce the duration and severity of subjective oral mucositis except for duration > or = Grade 3 (p = 0.0386). This is OK at best, but not dramatic. Some endpoints showed no benefit others do.

@debwitter @debwitter Such vitriolic defense of glutamine. I went to clinicaltrials.gov and search glutamine + mucositis. I found three results:
[1]Recruiting since 2004! And it's added to TPN. [1]Withdrawn [1]Terminated
In contrast palifermin had 20 studies listed, many completed or recruiting and one withdrawn. Caphosol had six all active or recruiting. And, I suggest spending $12 on something that is unproven is a waste of money.

Hi Debbie, thank you for producing these informative videos. Your daughter is very lucky to have such an organized, intelligent, and ingenious mother advocating for her health. I was treated for ALL as a child, and while my parents were very well meaning and took great care of me overall, they lacked the scientific-mindedness that you have. Some of these tips would have been extremely useful during treatment! Best wishes to you and to Kayla for a speedy recovery.

@jacquelinedetienne Thank you so much for your kind words. Before the Internet it would have been impossible to research all of the books, websites and medical library. Going to the library and going through all of the reference books would have taken many days to find something and I could not be away from Kayla when she was sick. I appreciate what you are saying. Spread the word cause this stuff works with most cancers. Deb
