The Studer A800 Multichannel Tape machine remains the most popular tape machine ever made, and can still be found in studios all over the planet. Universal Audio's Studer A800 plug-in faithfully replicates this machine with multiple tape speed, tape formulations, calibration controls, and the ability to adjust multiple instances with one control. In this video we demonstrate the Studer A800 Plug-in, and artists and engineers give testimonials about how much they love working with tape and the plug-in.

  • I wish the volume for before and after was the same. Of course the louder version with the plug in sounds better. Not saying its not a great plug in, but the volume should be the same.

  • As a guy whose used both the A80 and A800, I love this. I knew it was just a matter of time before someone wrote the algorithms. Sweet head bump and tape compression simulation. The geeks have inherited the Earth.

  • 5 people use Otari. lol lol lol

  • the highest levels are the same....

  • @ADBiggs You can use the UAD-2 Satellite with an imac. I just picked one up.

  • Ill have mine in 3 weeks (waiting to buy the quad unit first)

  • you make a good point sir but, still i wonder if its necessary to hardware. i mean computers are tough these days ... surely this can be software only!

  • @AndyCrystalOfficial to pay all that money for hardware and not even be able to try a demo ... what kind of fool do you think i am?

  • @buccigm Very good point, increased loudness is in fact one of the biggest psycho-acoustics effects that makes us perceive something as 'better sounding'. So them having the after version much louder is very misleading, and in my opinion, a little lazy and even dishonest lol.

  • @Eurynom3 Hopefully you have a decent studio rig to listen to this on and run it at 720p. At that you can notice a difference, but you still lose a TON of detail with how Youtube compresses its videos. You can easily hear major differences when they're going between IPS's in the vid. Things like tape and tube saturation are mostly about subtle differences on individual tracks which add up to major differences on a total mix.

  • Groovy.
