Difference between a engine break and exhaust brake is. Exhaust brakes are weak as fuck. And engine brakes are stronger. And engine brakes (Jake brakes) are a lot louder then the pussy exhaust brake.

@Usuckysuckyfidoller same thing....

@Usuckysuckyfidoller actually the Ram Cummins was available with a factory installed exhaust brake made by Jacobs, hence the name "Jake Brake"

Common misconception, an exhaust brake is nothing more than a device, linked to your throttle, that creates back pressure to aid in slowing you down on hills. A "Jake Brake" is a type of engine retarder that holds the exhaust valves open. Pickups do not come with Jake Brakes and no light duty diesel engines are available with this type of retarder.

@CowsXonXcrack a TRUE Jacobs break, which actuates valves in the engine to hold the exhaust valve open essentially turnin it into a giant air compressor. They do not make a true Jake brake for the Light and medium duty trucks only an exhaust waste gate.
Yup, my cat Yogi. i was leaving Missoula heading to Las Vegas via Portland for my job.
