Because they were promised that the company would double their investments, many agreed to put their money in Multitel. Unfortunately, their get-rich-easy plans turned into one of the biggest scam in the country's history. It was called the Multitel Pyramiding Scam.

Hundreds of investors were shocked to hear the news. Multitel's owner, Rosario Baladjay was initially reported to be in hiding, but she was later on arrested.
