I was in this show. It might of been a "Magic Musical" on stage but back stage it played much like a drama. (Ha!) It was my first and last broadway experience and I loved every aspect of it.
@CardsTellTales If you're speaking in terms of the public's perception of magic, then yes, I'd rank Hennings up there. But for magicians, he does not outrank Vernon.
fossefan, I think that was a little mean. (But it was Nathan Lane, so it was perfectly in character.) The only thing wrong with Merlin was that it was too expensive to survive.
My Dad took me to see this show when I was a boy, and I was hooked. True, most of the music wasn't so great, but Doug Henning was AMAZING. He was so much classier, then, say, Penn and Teller.
To hell with the critics I saw it too it was revolutionary in terms of the magic. In facct, is there any doubt in our Milky Way Galaxy that the three major forces of modern magic were in this order 1.) Doug Henning 2.) Siegfried and Roy 3.) Dai Vernon. David Copperfield came out as a copy the "Music Man " magic play A poor imitation that was salvaged by the dancers.DC's early worrks with card manipulation and doves even at SAM and IBM meteings is how he became

I wish more video of this show would appear.
It closed before I got to see it.
Doug was one of my most favorite magicians.

@ejay1118 Nathan had the best quote about the show: "Doug was good at making the audience disapear."

Thanks for uploading. Just the little bit of The Mascot Moth we see at the end of the commercial makes it worth it.

I really wish that this was available on DVD. I enjoyed finally getting to see "The Magic Show." I'd love to see what Doug Henning did here.
