@TheMrReaper13 I don't doubt Winters' credentials as a leader at all, and yes, he too should have been awarded it, but because of politics only one could be awarded per regiment. Winters was a far better tactician without a doubt. But what Spiers lacked in tactics, he made up for in brutality. And I think to win a medal of honour, you've got to have brutality. And self sacrifice.

@simsta1989 I read Winters' account of the whole thing, called "Beyond Band of Brothers". He specifically talks about Spears at Foy, and says that the movie portrayal is completely accurate. I played paintball a few weeks ago, and it really hit me then just how tough these young men were.

Winters couldn't have made a better decision after Dike's breakdown. All Speirs needed was that one shot and he proved invaluable to Easy Company.
