We should be worried when members of our society try to change curriculum by saying a certain book is offensive. If you do not wish your child to read a book, fine, but don't punish everyone else's children at the same time.

  • Slaughterhouse Five is my favorite book, and I have my own theory as to why conservatives hate it. Yes it has sexual content (it even has a doodle of breasts by Vonnegut himself), as well a strident anti-war theme and plenty of swears, but I believe its hatred by conservatives stems from its depiction of the deep unhappiness of a middle class man (and his affair with a film star) in what is suppose to be a blissful wealthy existence, subverting the Goldwater-Reaganite vision of Middle America.

  • @niriop I think it hints that there is no God, or at least the story of creation is false, and it ruins the idea of free will, because he advocates determinism, and the green alien things that I can't think of their race right now can see every moment of time, and thus it's fate.

  • fool, the problem is that evolution has been tested and verified and hence it is intellectually dishonest to abstain from teaching it, also creationish is purely a religious idea, as a it is matter of religion it should be taught in church and not in schools, schools should be saparate from any and all religion and christianity shouldn't get ANY special treatment and if it does you must also teach the muslim version of the story, the pagon version, the F.S.M. version, et cetera, et cetera.

  • ""don't punish everyone else's children ""

This dude slurs his words and the volume is low. But what he typed in the caption is very revealin g. He wants to punish all children with the lie of secular humanism including evolution.

  • @rdubwiley Yeah, that too
