This video has been created by the Beautiful Cervix Project and is a brief overview of how to view and photograph your own cervix (demonstrated on a model pelvis).

The Beautiful Cervix Project is a grassroots movement celebrating the beauty and intricacies of women's bodies and fertility! This website provides accessible information about women's fertility and menstrual cycles and showcases photographs documenting changes in the cervix and cervical fluid throughout the cycle.

The Beautiful Cervix Project teaches cervical self-exam and fertility awareness as a revolutionary path of promoting respect, confidence, and health. We believe that this form of self-empowerment and education will help contradict shame and misinformation around women's reproductive health and choices, affecting positive change from the personal to global levels.

We hope The Beautiful Cervix Project inspires our readers' curiosity to observe and appreciate what is normal for each one of us as we track the subtle changes in our bodies throughout our cycles.

Visit beautifulcervix.com (warning- graphic website) for more information on the project or to submit your photo.

  • Why would you want to photograph your cervix?

  • @Suzla2

because it's part of your body you never see. In my case I want to because I'm going in for surgery tomorrow to have part of my cervix cut out due to severe pre-cancer. I want to see how bad this is. I mean, when you break a bone they show you a x-ray. Why can't I see for myself my cervix?

  • Internal pix make me queasy & I was a little hesitant to watch this vid, but I'm glad I did!

Your model was ingenious & your instructions seemed sensible. I imagine that women could benefit from being aware of what is normal for their own bodies & observing for any changes.

I learned something on youtube, today. Thank you.

  • I want to photograph my cervix and put the picture in an art museum, where it will be admired for centuries. It will be the Mona Lisa of the cervix world.

  • I hope everything went well for you. This is very interesting thought. Thank you for sharing this information and making the video very well. Hope you have a good day.

  • @PBLMedicine No you don't. The vagina isn't a sterile place. You just need a clean speculum.

  • Nice boob pillows

  • I fully support this.

  • hey this is interesting, so i would actually need a speculum and one of those type of cameras for this? can someone tell me.

  • Good tutorial, I will try this on my gf. What size lens and f-stop? I'm going to try to see if my DSLR macro lens will fit.

  • maybe it would help doctors see how far your into labour instead of them sticking their fingers up in there and probably hurting the baby's head I mean I had a child having a doctor stick his finger in you just to tell you how much you have dilated is uncomfortable and I was worried they would hurt the baby's head the whole time or breaking my water too soon.

  • It would be good to emphasize, you need sterile (!) speculum.
