The work and ministry of sermonindex can be encapsulated in this one word: REVIVAL. sermonindex is not a organisation, business, or any attempt by man to build something for God. It is rather a expression of a heart burden to see the Church revived and brought back to holiness, purity, and power with God. "The mission of SermonIndex is the preservation and propogation of classical vintage preaching and the promotion of genuine biblical revival to this generation." We are free to obey the Lord by His Spirit out of love! Not simply because we are trying to maintain our salvation. The Lord will preserve His Saints! Do we not still fear God? Yes! For He has power to cast us into hell! It is ONLY by His mercy and grace that we could ever partake in salvation! And do not be deceived, His grace will work in and through us! As Paul said, "I worked harder than all the rest, but not I, but the grace of God in me"! It was the work of God in and through his heart!

That's why it is important to keep hearing the word and allow it to reach our hearts. For there faith will come by the word which comes by hearing (Romans 10:17) and through faith we receive His Spirit (Galatians 3:2) and His Spirit pours the fruit of love into our heart (Romans 5:5) and we walk according to His statues (1 John 5:3; Ezekiel 36:27)!

If it wasn't by faith, then it would be by OUR works that we STAY saved. For if we get cast out because we don't abide and bear fruit by our own strength, then we would maintain our salvation by OUR works. NOT SO! It is God Who sanctifies as we continue in the faith and grow in grace. So, we remain in faith and grow in grace and the word performs its work in us and the fruit of the Kingdom is manifest in our lives, meaning that we are abiding, since we are producing fruit!

Really enjoyed alot, but I disagree that abiding in the Lord has nothing to do with faith. The walk of holiness is a walk of faith.
Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving. Colossians 2:6-7
We are to walk in the Lord as we received Him. How did we receive Him? Through faith!

Charles Spurgeon was a Calvinist and was addicted to cigars. These 2 facts alone should be enough to dethrone the so-called "prince of preachers".
