Matt Smith performs improvised drum solo with brushes based on concepts from compositions by Dave Brubeck. The solo is mostly in 9/8, framed around Brubeck's "Blue Rondo A La Turk."
Great brush solo you got going on there! I love the original song and the 9/8 in particular. Just wanted to say that I would've liked more sweeping on the snare, because that's a really unique sound you can create with your brushes. You can make things much more 'full' that way. Anyhow it was a great solo!
Hey Matt I think there will be a bunch of drummers who won't get this and they'll say it sounds like noise, no kick and all the stupidity bad players say when they don't get something. Just ignore 'em kid. Everythings not supposed to come out of a Riley or a Chapin book. This is great.
I agree with JBZjazz, it needs more snare but otherwise it was amazuzing.

My brushes aren't stiff enough to get something that loud. At least not on my snare.
