Does anyone no that Earnie broke smiths neck with that last right hand and ended his career.

@mitjandjija strongest puncher? maybe only maybe shavers did hit a bit harder with the right hand, but george foreman had much better power in the left hand, and comparable power in the right hand, foreman had by far more physical strength, and he had a sturdy chin, shavers had a glass chin. foreman had better funtional power

@madmax8903 Yeah I agree. Bob Foster looked like a string bean but he had awesome KO power. Its all about timing and balance more than raw power.

@knockup100 The only point i was trying to make is that you can be 205 and hurt a guy 265 no problem. In regards to Tyson who wasn't relatively a big heavyweight that usually came in around 217 or 220 was more exciting to watch in his haye day then 90% of the guys today that look like they spend more time chasing the ice cream truck then they do in gym..its pathetic!! im tierd of watching guys that are out of shape being overmatched by the Klitschko's whom i personally think are overrated.....

@ceasar1216 Keep living in the past. Tyson Well he was good at fighting average fighters, but when i finally fought good opponents he lost badly.

Let me add to the comments below. Shavers hit harder than Foreman, since people who fought both said so. All boxers, never mind HW, are physically strong and looking at a man's physique as a way of determining punching power is ridiculous. Skill, timing, hand speed, technique are far more important. eg,. Abe Simon and Carnera weren't known as punchers, though they had tremedous physiques. Too much is made of size, like a Dempsey, Louis, or Marciano couldn't hurt a Klitschko. Hah!

Sounded very out of breath more than a minurte after a very brief fight. Was it due to the weights or the flu? Did I hear the commentator mention Bossman Jones in Smith's corner? He was the former sparring partner of Foreman's who helped Ali prepare for Zaire. In the movie The Greatest, the character based on him is the one who says something like, "I've been in with guys that can knock you cold or lift you clean off your feet. But George...he can kill you, man."
earnie is great

I don't know what you're talking about. Ali, Foreman, Lyle, Norton and Young all fought Shavers and all of them said Shavers was the hardest puncher they ever fought! And Ali should know; he fought the likes of Foreman, Frazier, Liston, Bonavena, Norton and Lyle. And it doesn't even matter that Ali fought Shavers in '77, because even though it was the twilight of Ali's career, he still beat Shavers.
