  • Frank, I tend to favor circling to the right, and I seem to 'kink' left just before starting to circle to the right, much as you bank slightly right before circling right. I don't remember if I was taught to do that (don't think so) or experience has shown that it's beneficial, or.... Do you have an explanation?

    Thanks,

    Jim

PS Awesome self rigger in your other video!

If I think the thermal is to the left, I tend to bank right first and then bank back to the left. Similar if I think it is to the right. I try real hard to let the thermal tell me which way to turn rather than have a preconceived notion of which way to go. Hope that answered your qestion

  • Respond to this video... Thanks - I developed this system over several seasons and two different gliders & trailers. I started out with just a piece of carpet on the ground, and gradually developed it into what was shown in the video. Works great and is generally faster than with a helper.

  • Yes, anyone using thermals for lift can benefit both from the thermal and the cross country aspects of the sim. However, the speeds will be a lot different ;-).
