@polymathforever: i agree with that assessment. powell is an accomplished military officer and diplomat. however, i do think powell's blind defense of errant british intelligence at the united nations which proved to be the launching pad for the iraq war, was a major, unforgiveable blunder by him. i don't know how he can redeem himself, but i don't think he has yet.

I think Powell was really great in this interview. He's logical, smart, gives a very measured evaluation of both candidates. I think his message of unity from the Republican party is a good one. There should be more Republican candidates like these. Rational, intelligent, measured and decisive.

It's attitudes like yours that is the very reason why MANY GOP'ers jumped ship and voted for Obama. The Republicans have allowed so many racists to infiltrate and polute the Party that I'm sure Abraham Lincoln is turning in his grave. You've even succeeded in alienating one of your most popular members, Colin Powell. I don't think it's him that needs to leave the Party. It's people with attitudes like yours who are destroying the Party.and turning everybody off, that needs to leave.
