  • @NativeNewMexican They made damned sure that noone got any welfare, that the market wasn't distorted by public works and the only government program was extremely weak and underfunded.

Sounds totally free market to me

    This is a good response

    ww (w.y) outub (e.c) om/watch?v=mSD2nr75CRs

I don't agree with how he praises laissez faire at around 8:30, but I like how he pointed out how the famine could have been prevented by ending exports (like they did with a previous famine)

  • @dffykvn

I'm delusional? You point at a society that was insanely regulated and controlled by government and you claim it was a failure of the free market; that's delusion.

If you continue to insist on this lie, I will call you out on it. I will continue to point out your vulgarity and ridiculous generalizations and uninformed positions so that everyone that ever reads our conversation will readily understand how lacking your perspective is.

  • Are you going to play the shrinking violet again? Shall I get you a fainting doily and smelling salts?

So FM capitalism was fucking all of ireland and somehow the weakest attempt at helping the poor in the most backhanded/insulting way possible was the cause of...good god, you're delusional

I can lead you to facts but I can't make you think

From now on I'll only respond if you respond first, If you'd like to end this as well then stop replying, but if you want to be insulted that badly... :P

  • @dffykvn

Your history is completely uninformed. The government had an insane amount of manipulations of the population, the religion, the economy, and more leading into and during the Irish Potato famine. You probably never heard of the Poor Law Act of 1838. How is that free trade?

Tony Blair himself admitted that the famine was exacerbated by the English sending troops to CONFISCATE food in Ireland.

I am ever more pleased with your drama queen spews of anger and venom. What a vocabulary!

  • @NativeNewMexican I should have added

The troops were used to protect the private property of the exporters

They wanted to export food while people were starving, the british sent troops to protect free enterprise....

Can't let those welfare queens eat now can we?

Take your capitalism and fuck yourself to death with it.

  • @NativeNewMexican Did you read the article?

They wanted to make sure noone interfered with private enterprise

They also made it difficult/impossible for the government to give out food

That's the inevitable outcome of your insane ideas

  • @dffykvn Yeah, sending troops from England up into Ireland and confiscating food sure was a great example of free market failure. Are you feeling ok?

  • @NativeNewMexican Thank god britain never fed those disgusting irish welfare queens

    ww (w.s) chillerinstitut (e.o) rg/economy/nbw/pot_famine9 (5.h) tml

The gawd of the frii murkhet demanded the deaths of 2 million irish

    That's your capitalist utopia

  • @NativeNewMexican Read up on how the British Empire used free trade as a weapon

Protectionism works when you need to build up your domestic industries, then when you're properly industrialized with infrastructure etc you engage in free trade to extract money from foreign markets

You really need to look up how free trade was imposed on india

There are a number of indian authors that wrote about how free trade was designed to .... you won't look any of it up will you?

  • @dffykvn

You call that free trade? I'm the one that should be laughing. How the hell was that free trade?

You're complaining about mercantilism, crony capitalism, and colonial harvesting and calling it free trade. You obviously don't understand English, perhaps we should start there.

Free Trade: An act of exchanging products or services in which BOTH parties voluntarily participate using barter or a currency as a means of expedience. This excludes monopolistic government currency and force.
