Luke Haines is an interesting guy, and his memoir of the 90s British music scene is pretty amusing reading.

Which humans think it unreasonable to ask the wife to iron? Mine won't, so my mum does. And a lovely job she does

@bafiusreid Yeah, I thought it was slightly different! Think this version is slightly faster, the guitar picking is louder on this too. They played it slower live, the version on Jools on here could do with speeding up a bit. Amazing song. One of the best singles of the '90s. And that is saying something.

Weird this is not the actual version of the song featured on the "Now I'm a Cowboy" album. Listen carefully and you'll spot some rare arrangements

Number 41 with a bullet. Agonizing. Why wasn't this a hit? Radio One actually supported it. Luke Haines took it well though, er, kind of.

Bad hair, Luke (great song though).

Luke Haines of The Auteurs and Laurence (Hayward) of Felt/Denim. Two of the best pop writers of the 80's/90's. Blinding. Check out Baader MEinhof, the Haines side project - An INCREDIBLE concept album! Unfortunately no video!
