My apologies to previous viewers. I've decided to delete and remaster my original video due to distortion issues with the codec used.

This is a video of my latest trip to Barbados on the BA2155 service. This was flown by aircraft G-VIIA, the same aircraft that did the return leg of my last trip. Coincidentally this was the aircraft on which I did the return leg of this trip :)

This particular flight was unique in that it took almost 9 hours due to heavy headwinds. Also the approach into Barbados was markedly different and shorter than the norm in that the aircraft came in along the east coast and made a sharp turn to line up with the runway. The net effect was that the view of the island on the left hand side of the aircraft was much shorter than normal - in effect none! - while the lucky folk on the rirght hand side had a grandstand view - You win some you lose some :)

The Aircraft was heavy - I heard the gate agent mention that every seat was occupied. Despite this the take-off roll seemed identical to partially loaded flights - those GE90 engines are really awesome.

The Aircraft is a Boeing 777-236B with General Electric GE90-85B turbofan engines.

The video was taken by a Panasonic HDC-HS300 semi-pro camcorder. It was recorded in full HD with a Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack. In my opinion the camcorder does a great job of capturing the nuances of the engine sounds during the climb out. The GE90 engines sound really cool.

  • Does British Airways use any 777's to the Caribbean that have been fitted with the new First Class cabins?

  • @anthonyamoise Interesting that you ask. Unfortunately BA do not fly New First 777s to the Caribbean on a regular basis. I've been holding out for the last few months awaiting this. There has been the odd flight with New First, but these have been very few and far between :( Visit the thebasource website to see which aircraft flew the route. Eg G-VIIA/B/F flew BA2155 during Feb 2012 except for Feb 1st where New First equipped G-VIIM flew. Not good odds :(

  • @2pb Thanks for the reply. St. Lucia, Barbados,Grenada and Trinidad are the only Caribbean islands that BA flies to with there 777's with the 4 class config. Eventually these aircraft will be fitted with the new first cabins. Really hate your vids by the way...they only make me miss flying on BA even more. ;)

  • @rcreveiwers I got nothing against GE and think their engines are great but it would be nice to see BA use RR engines more and less GE engines.

  • We want rolls royce engines :(

  • isnt it a slap in the face BA doesn't use Rolls Royce engines :(

  • GE-90 all day every day lol
