Whittingham Mental Asylum

Whittingham Hospital opened officially on 1st April 1893. Built to house around 2500 patients it was to be the largest area designated for the treatment of "LUNATICS" this is by far the most creepy place i have been in my life! This is about 20mins drive from leyland and is located in preston lancashire England and is rumoured to be a very haunted place indeed. Went today on my own. Im 6 foot 2 inch & fairly athletic & i will never go back there. It felt so bad from the second I got in there. Odd noises, creaking & banging & the feeling of being watched. When I saw someone walking away from me at the other end of the debris strewn corridor, I nearly died. I have never wanted out of somewhere so quick in my life. Think your brave , then go there on your own. Its an evil place & should be torn down. God knows who was in there with me. Dont wanna know.

The massive amounts of money, man power and raw materials that was wasted as per the video, in the USA and other parts of the world building hundreds of these massive and architecturally ornate asylums ..only to realise decades later that the whole idea of locking up masses of people in asylums was fundamentally flawed so systematically shutting each one down and abandoning it altogether defies belief...
