@66ggirl When this was recorded, George was backed up in the studio and on tour by The Jordanaires. First Tenor Gordon Stoker had the vocal range to sing the high part of any harmonies. Notice that unlike the duets that George Jones performed with Melba Montgomery, Tammy Wynette, Margie Singelton and many others, "The Window Up Above" doesn't have a female solo part. I suppose that a female singer might have done backup in the studio or onstage, but finding who that may be would be difficult.
I remember them from either the late fifties or early sixties. Everybody back home just loved listening to George and Melba. They sounded so good together.
