ply wood would be the best bet, 3/4 inch thick.

the end result came out nicely.. thank you for sharing it with us. I sure wished i would see the design process, what cuttings are needed and fittings done in more detail, just to learn from your experience.
but thanx again for sharing ur experience anyways...

not bad at all.. mdf is a pain to use some times as it bends a bit with big sheets, and tends to burn out blades if try to cut it to fast i found :) and chips easy if droped

Yes, mdf does bend a bit when cutting with the table saw because it is very large and heavy.
