MORE INFO and NOTES and PDF's FOR THIS PLANE:

PDF's: http://www.intensewalkera.webspace.virginmedia.com/

It is hard to get the center of gravity correct on this plane when the motor is in a pusher setup. I would NOT recommend making this a pusher, I have tried and had to use a large battery to get it to balance. That being said, I have made a 60 inch version of this wing and it is a pusher with no problems.

This is an RC delta wing that I designed. It has a 30 inch wingspan (tip to tip), 11.5 inch root chord, 9 inch tip chord (including 2 inches of elevon), and 11 inches of sweep. The KFM2 airfoil is at 50% wing chord and is made of 1/2 inch wall insulation foam board (pink foam).

Center of Gravity: 7 inches back from the front

Make sure that you program expo on your transmitter for ailerons and elevator! I did about 30% on the aileron control and 40% on the elevator control and this worked great for me.

Weight, without the battery: 260 grams (this is with the motor and ESC)

Motor: Turnigy 2730 1500 kv - with an 8mm LightFlite Magic Motor Mount
Prop: 8x4
ESC: 18A Volcano Exceed RC
Battery: 1300 mAh 11.1v 3S 25C
Servos: 9 gram T-Pro
Receiver: Orange Rx DSM2 Compatible

  • Have you tried vertical take off with this plane? It seems to sit up quite happily.

  • @Jonathunor I have not, but with a powerful enough motor I am sure that it could!

  • Would a pusher prop version of the last delta plane (the one which you like best) fly well you reckon?

  • @Jonathunor Definitely. RCTestFlight flies a lot of FPV with a pusher version of this delta wing that he came up with. Apparently he really likes it!

  • @RcTranMD Everyone wants a great delta that glides well. Check out my FPV40! It has been great for me so far

  • @schraut5 yes but my laziness might take over

but other than that yea just depends what the planes purpose is so i can design it specifically for that purpose or make it just fun to fly

right now im trying to get a build video on the Microdrone V4 any changes besides the aileron size cause i saw the same thing to sensitive on the role cause it was to big(thats What She Said)

But after that i wanted to design a good looking easy to build delta for FPV with a good gliding capability

  • @RcTranMD Good idea! Would you make a plane if I had a contest?

  • wow thats alot of motors esc's and orange receivers you know you can take off the parts and use it on other planes or you could give some away in a contest

  • @RCschuback just PM'd you

  • @RCschuback Reverse Engineering! I knew the wingspan of the original Zephyr, so I found the best picture I could of it, overhead shot, measured the wingspan on the picture, then used that conversion factor to measure the chords and sweep and got the approximate dimensions of the Zephyr. Not perfect, but it got me in the ballpark. It's a great wing and he just came out with the Zephyr II !
