  • Um, execuse me, mutezone, do you have the opening credits to "The Marseille Contract" (1974)?

  • Sorry, don't have that film. I only have a limited number of VHS from when I recorded off the TV in the past.

  • The other day I found myself watching a programme called "Embarrassing Illnesses" on C4, have you seen that? The premise is people having strange problems and being to embarrassed to go to the doctors but quite comfortable going on national TV to be examined. I really think they're scraping the barrel now.

  • I have seen that programme, for only a couple of minutes and it was terrible. Thing is, TV has been scaping the barrel for a long time already. My view is that it started when the first series of Big Brother became a hit and since then we have been inundated with low class reality TV programmes ever since. It is also a shame about Channel 4's output nowadays. They really have dumbed down from the intelligent, unique and cultured channel they were in the 80s until the late 90s.

  • Telly just isn't the same anymore, there's no excitement in it like it was then. We had 39 channels when we first got cable in 90-91, it went up to 40 soon after when the movie channel was launched. My favourites were The Children's Channel (Before it became TCC), The Movie Channel, and the old Sky One, when they had the DJ Kat show, I also saw British television premiere of Star Trek: The Next Generation on Sky One. Happy days... Anyone remember the cable guide you used to get monthly?

  • I agree gullivera. I think the problem is that there is no more effort put into TV to make it as diverse and entertaining like back then. Nowadays there are too many repeats and programmes based on reality TV that I get depressed when I switch the box on. Thankfully, Youtube has plenty of clips when TV was good.

My favourite TV guide of back then was Satellite TV Europe, which had listings of all channels and an excellent movie guide for both movie channels.
