In October 2006 we saw a beautiful white greyhound (Galgos) at the kennels in Corvera Spain. He had been a stray for around 6 months before being taken in by the Local Noahs Arc animal charity. He was in a bad way, very thin and full of ticks and fleas. He was dehydrated and had cigarette burns to his rear quarters and also a burn to his skull! This dog is one of those that captures your heart as soon as you meet him. He looks deep into your eyes when you stroke him, it almost as though he is looking into your soul! The poor chap was suffering with depression when we met him. He would not eat, and spent all his time in voluntary isolation, despite vigorous attempts to socialise him. He spent a further 8 months in the kennels before in desperation we were asked to Foster him as he seemed to be was losing the will to live. This 2 minute video is his story and the link below takes you to where he is now. Please rate these two videos good or bad. Lets keep these beautiful docile creatures highlighted in the hope that they are better understood and found more loving homes. They love people, love children, and sleep for 22 hours a day, need just 40 minutes of exercise a day. And have the most charming and humorous personality (when they are awake) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KbmmpqWiIgM For the Harvey update & latest thrilling mix !

  • Great to get your comments and I am so pleased that you all like the video of Harvey.

Happy to report that Harvey and (Amber) are both doing really well. Harvey has tuned into the most wonderful companion, and is totally adorable. He loves to come over to have his ears stroked and always gazes straight into your eyes when he comes over. He is now 6 years old and we hope the next 6 years is as perfect as the first 6.

    Thanks for the comments. Andy

  • Great video Andy! Finally we get to see the history of the Greyt Harvey ;-)

    Thanks for sharing!

    regards,

    Sebas

  • Cheers Seb

After Andreas visit last week I am still on medication! Hope to be back to normal this time next year!

  • Beautiful white dog. So glad you rescued him from such abuse:) Bless you!

  • Goosebumps on my heart - how wonderful to see such a dramatic improvement. The love for Harvey is so clear on this clip...... gorgeous creatures.

  • Such a shining example you are! If everyone adopted an older dog or an adult dog from rescues instead of breeding puppies, there would be a lot more happy homes for those dogs who already need them. All of my dogs have been rescues, all sighthounds and these dogs make excellent family members :)

  • All I can say is your reward for this generous act is the love of these beautiful dogs. Bless you for taking in Harvey. I hope he and Amber are doing well!

  • Fantastic Movie, he's so beautiful - no wonder you didn't want to let him go! We hope to rescue a Galgo ourselves one day .

  • When I have my own house, I'm going to adopt a Galgo/Greyhound!! I love them!!

  • I have the honor of sharing my time with a Whippet and 2 Beagles...Hounds rule!!!!
