We break out our audio yardsticks for the IK Multimedia Advanced Room Correction System as Bill Holland shows you how to conduct room measurements. It's an especially important product considering that most home studio engineers have to deal with the rooms they've got.
The test sound from ARC also sounds coincidentally like a game of Pac Man going really slowly.

@groovecartelmusic did you read nothing about what it does before you bought it?

Do I have to use their particular mic or I could do measuring with mine?

If you know what your doing you don't need to buy this product you can simply do this your self. Using a different system to record through the microphone would help because feedback would not be in issue. There are lots of sweep frequency generators out there for free. This is just making it easier on the consumer level to accomplish this.

Have I got this right, with this switched on what you here wont actually be what our recording sounds like? How is this useful...?

@ebelyshev You can use a hand grenade to kill a fly if you are careful too, but that doesn't mean it's practical. About the forum thing I don't own IK Multimedia products. I've got a friend who has a real studio (I say real because some people call studio having a desk, a Mac and Midi controller) and this guy has corrected his monitors (even though he's control room is acoustic treated), he found he had a lack of bass frequencies.

@Lgw1984 You've only responded to half of my statement. What about not being able to view forums and see what users are saying about the products? And yes you can use Neumann U87 live on the mic stand if you are careful. For the price I paid for it, it was the biggest waste of my money.

@ebelyshev "ARC System is a piece of crap. It is not designed to eq live situations"
(Ironic mode on) Yeah, ARC sucks, you can't make photos and you can't even hunt deers with it...
(Ironic mode off) What part of "designed for home studios" you didn't understand? Yeah, you probably think a Neumann U87 is a shitty mic for vocals because you can't use it live

Finally, somebody who actually knows what this product is used for... Everybody seems to think this product is designed for everything that it's not designed for.

@groovecartel
you can record It as you hear it. You have to bounce your tracks with the arc measurement on. I don't understand why you would want to do that because it would sound awful when translated to other speakers. The point of ARC is to allow you to monitor accurately so that you can make wise decisions when monitoring. It's not meant to be recorded.

I just bought this product and it is absolute garbage; don't waste your money. The issue with this item is that while it does make changes to what you are listening to, it does not actually record what you are hearing. Total garbage!
