@S0ryiu Your generally right, thrash metal is a fusion genre that mixes together hardcore punk with speed metal and in the original Bay Area thrash metal scene, they also had influence taken from NWOBHM like Iron Maiden and Motorhead. Then they have crossover thrash which is thrash with stronger elements of hardcore punk than standard thrash. You're right that speed metal and thrash metal are generally different, although one takes a bit from the other.
