Lady, you are very fortunate. There is a reason why there is a guard at every parking lot, every business, high fences, razor wire, etc. EVERYWHERE in San Jose. Anyone who doubts how bad the crime is should go down to the American embassey on any day. You will find the waiting room overrun with people who have been victimized and are trying to get emergency passports. I talked to several people who had visited CR many times whose luck ran out and they were robbed.

@FreeBlago1 Maybe. I live by the D.

@darlin7771 this is so common, much more so than the the alternative. I lived there 17 years. it's still my home in some ways. I never wanted to leave but raising a child there is absolute madness.

@TonyCiel playa grande had on average 400 baula turtles laying eggs on a daily basis in the 90's now you're lucky if ya can see three or four a night(in season, of course). all because of tourism. pointing flashlights and scarying the bejesus outta these poor leatherbacks. all to make a buck.

@icostarica24 To be clear on two things. I was talking about CR, and Detroit is also a crap hole. At least the police will catch the person that killed you in Detroit. Sigh.
I have been to costa rica over the last 10 years as well as many other countries south of mexico. Costa Ricans can be sumed up with one word....JACK ASSES. You can go there if you have money and spend it or you can go as a back packer...either way you are a sucker. I went for one reason....surfing. Go, be cautious and don't buy real estate and don't plan to move there. If your life sucks so bad you want to live in that shithole you should consider a rope and a tree.

@mymattaponi1 I'm sure you got constructive things to say based on your experiences in CR...unfortunately, you minimize your credibility by saying things like, 'jack asses' and 'shit hole'. Yes, they have issues, like any country I might add... and so you know, we were on the TOP of our game in the US when we decided to move here...that was 7 years ago.. no rope and tree in sight.

The only thing I would say is watch your belongings, dont talk to sketchy people, and stay away from the cities. If your renting a car, try and get good clear directions to where your going, especially if your heading to the caribbean side because the signs are not very good in Costa Rica. You do not want to get lost in San Jose. Once your on Highway 32 its easy sailing.

Anyone who hasn't been robbed there yet, has not have their luck run out yet. It's 30% more expensive than U.S. If it has a plug or motor, expect to pay 200% more! Underdevloped, dangerous, expensive, ugly girls, disgusting beer, no customer service, useless police, most ex-pats are fugitives/child molestors/weirdos/pervs, WORST FOOD YOU WILL EVER EAT, ugly-dirty beaches, aggresive waves, bad weather for allergies, streets smell and are destroyed, thievery EVERYWHERE. Pura Vida? LMAO!

@FreeBlago1 I'm only leaving this comment up because I think MOST people will understand that you thought you were commenting on a Detroit video.
