Thank you for answering my question. Also, I'm no expert, but it seems to me that Edinburgh speakers vary considerably in their accents. The punk band the Exploited exhibit one type of Edinburgh accent (when speaking), and Sir Malcolm Rifkind exhibits another, almost completely opposite sort of accent. Also, there's numerous accents in between, some of which remind me of your own (which I think is really cool, by the way).
Okay, I stand corrected, but what part of Ireland are you from? You sound exactly (well, almost exactly) like some people I've met from Edinburgh, Scotland; two I thought were Irish, and one I mistook as being English.
No, its one of many accents from Edinburgh, Scotland. It is considered fairly "posh" among Scottish folks, but there are some people with far more "posh" accents in Scotland (particularly in Morningside, Edinburgh)-- politician Gordon Brown, for example, has a stronger Morningside/Edinburgh accent than this tour guide.
