The report shows the army's training and administrative office. Most Kurds do not take kindly to office work, or becoming bureaucrats. The Kurds lavish extraordinary care on their rifles, and pride themselves on being crack marksmen. Most of them are captured from the Iraqis, but many are acquired through private deals in Europe on both sides of the iron curtain. The peshmergas live mainly off the land - every farmer gives 10 percent of his harvest to the troops, and Kurds outside Iraq donate 10 percent of their income to the cause. Prisoners are given the same food as the army. The Kurdish army is limied to 25,000 because that is the number that they can arm. The favoured few ride horses. Most need little training, although some were trained in Russia, or have defected from the Iraqi army. Kurds put the number of Iraqi defectors who have joined them at over 750 last year alone. The plight of the Kurds is largely unknown or of little interest to the outside world. To help spread knowledge, the kurds have set up a radio station, Radio Free Kurdistan, in a big cave. Since the film was taken its been hit by Iraqi Hunter jets. It transmits on the shortwave band, with a range of about 500 miles, which covers Baghdad. The programmes are dominated by patriotic appeals. A message is put out by the announcer, and then Baghdad tries to drown out the message by a top Arab pop song. The report speculates that, now that the war appears to be over, Radio Free Kurdistan will have to switch to a mesage of peace and reconciliation. The report then shows the mountain hut from which the kurds publish the Kurdistan News. It's printed in Arabic, and translated to English and French for outside consumption. The report speculates that this month's edition will reflect Barzani's attitude towards peace with Iraq. He's endorsed an Iraqi twelve point peace plan, but refuses to give up his private army.

  • I seen a sign as if God is already here. Also, one morning my baby daughter (who can't talk) was in the bed saying god, god, god. Then, she started saying her ABC's. I'm sounded by the spirt of my father. Heaven is our home and god is our father. In heaven we are strong but in hell we are weak. We dream because our sole never sleep. I asked god to tell me about ancient history. Later I had a dream. It said that Chinese and blacks were fighting together. 4000 years ago they were.

  • Verder.. Kurds had USA, Israel, Iran backing them against iraq.. aslo... kurds were in the highlands they had the advantage... only until 1975.. when iran withdrew.. kurds lost the war

  • There is not anyone who cares about the Kurds, not even the United States. U.S. like oil and Turks better than that Kurds. There is wonderful to see the forgotten Kurdish history.
