The vast majority of monotonic quadratic polynomials in R do not factor nicely as (x-a)(x-b) with a, b integers, or even a,b rational. It's completely absurd to focus time on something like this which is utterly useless and not remotely reflective of the "big picture" of Algebra, polynomials, or Galois Theory.
Not to say anything against the guy who posted the video. More about the curriculum set forth by schools.

@KalROFL i totally agree with some parts of the school curriculum not being too good nothing like studies of mathematics at uni i know this method works for far less than 50% of all quadratics but when is possible its quick in general i say the formula is way more important and for higher degree equations this wont work either but using abstract algebra which school doesnt seem to touch at all a lot can be factored in the set of rational irrational or even complex sets

what is the solution and answer of this term 2x^2+19x-10 ?
EstrellaLynette 7 months ago
@EstrellaLynette first factorise as in video we need 2 brackets (2x-1)(x+10)=0 check by removing brackets then solve each so either 2x-1=0 so 2x=1 x=1/2 or x+10=0 so x=-10 so we have x=1/2 or x=-10 you can check by plugging these in to your original expression if you get 0 then your solution is correct if not try to see were the mistake was
