@ShadowVampira thunder comes from two opposing clouds coming together the opposing ions collide releasing energy or an explosion creating the lightning the thunder is what you hear later since light travels faster than the speed of sound

@ShadowVampira No, you have it right. Lightning proceeds thunder, as light (as in lightning) is faster than the speed of sound (as in thunder).
