Sharp had a press event today (at the Pioneer booth) regarding their new Elite line of LCD panels and we were able to see the new panels in action. The Pro-60X5FD ($6000) and the Pro-70X5FD ($8500) are shipping now through the dealers that are certified to carry the Elite brand. Magnolia Hi-Fi, part of Best Buy, is one the dealers that is nationwide.

  • i'll buy one till the price drops to 1,110 dollars i heard once oled tv's come out all of the lcd/led and plasma's tv prices will drop alot.

  • my pioneer elite kuro 60 inch is STILL top of the line it will give this a run for its money for sure

  • I saw this at Best Buy today, and it caught my attention from across the Magnolia room maybe 15-20ft away. The BLACK LEVELS, the motion, and the crispness of the picture during Blu Ray playback is nothing short of spectacular. It says ELITE on the bezel, so I was like ooooohhh wooooowww okaayyyy, so this is what the Pineer Elite Kuro Plasma looks like huh, woooowww, then I read the price tag, and on it was Sharp LED and below that was $7,999 I think I shat my pants at that point. I want one!!!

  • Anybody doubting this tv, just go to Best Buy watch for 5 minutes and judge for yourself. If your main focus are surfing the web and downloading apps, why not use your smartphone? or your laptop? I saw it in person and one word came to mind "STUNNING"!! My VT25 had the deepest blacks I ever saw before, but this tv fucking destroys it, and all other competition whether it be Plasma or LED. I see many people doing insurance jobs on their cars or using their tax return to buy this. Its that good!

  • This new 70" is looking like the new gotta have it standard!

I can't wait to see this baby in person and read what all the pro reviewers at CNET, AVS Forum etc have to say about it.

At the very least it will give me time to save up my aluminum can recyclables for the $7999.98 retail price!

I have to say that it's great to see Sharp and Pioneer team up to make the absolute BEST LED/LCD TV. There's definitely a market for those who want the best!

I am hoping this will hold up to the KURO!

  • There's nothing impressive about this so called new Elite LCD TV! I'm just gonna stick with Samsung's Smart Hub, because it gives you alot more options than this new brand of tv they're showing in this video!

  • I wish Panasonic would say the same to their engineers: "Produce the best TV you can without worrying about price or budget." Maybe then we can get a plasma without all that rising blacks, floating blacks, flashing whites nonsense and with the deepest blacks.
