I have always love this theme; a perfect match for the perfect Boogie man flick. This movie wouldn't have been even half as creepy without this score. I saw a John Carpenter interview where he explained that it is actually a 5/5 Jazz beat as opposed to a 2/4 beat that is typically used in like films. He was looking for a beat that was urgent and frantic to mix with the doom like rhythm of the Moog synthesizer. To me its two parts working; the hunter and the prey. A perfect score.

@alucard624 The OST I have is copywritten in 1985, and there only 11 tracks, none of which have any audio.

@boingokky One of the biggest differences between the original album and the 25th anniversary edition is the lifted dialogue segments that are spread out on the CD. And more tracks of music too. It's worth owning both IMO.

@alucard624 I must not have the 25th anniversary, I'll have to look at it and see. I like both versions, just the version I have is too percussive, this isn't...adds more to the texture and ominousness to the overall film, I think.

@boingokky This version is actually on the 25th anniversary CD soundtrack release. The version with the thumping bass beat was apparently a re-recorded version for the original album release. Personally I like both versions. I especially loved the thumping version at the end of H20 right when the decap happens. Very chilling and frankly that should have been the end of the series right there IMO.

Isn't this theme song the same as the one in Christine? I think this is in a slightly differant key though.

Cannot figure out why this version isn't on my soundtrack cd that I have?! The only version it plays is the one with the loud bassdrum beating the tempo so heavily, the version we hear in the end of H20 when Laurie 'kills' MM.

2 people got shot by Dr. Loomis!

Freddy and Jason disliked this
This is the TRUE, REAL music we can hear in the cult film.
All other versions are fashioned remixes.
