Actor Abhay Deol talks about the need to protect forests from the threat of coal mining. The actor joined Greenpeace activists in the forests of Mahan in Madhya Pradesh, to show his support for forests.
The actor later went on board one of the hot-air balloon, and spoke to the news channel Times Now about the dangerous precedent that will be set by allowing coal mining in Mahan's forests.

The future of these forests and forest dependent communities in Mahan is on the line, with the Group of Ministers on coal, headed by Pranab Mukherjee, expected to permit mining here very soon. This block had been listed as a 'No Go' region and has been a bone of contention between the Ministry of Environment and Coal Ministry, with the Prime Minister's Office also lobbying for clearance.
