  • I saw Christopher West yesterday, his talk was amazing! He is a great speaker :)

  • More resources ---

Called to Love by Carl Anderson

Civilization of Love by Carl Anderson

    ----

When we find love, this is what we do with it, build a union of love between the two of us, build a city of God amongst our brothers and sisters!

  • yeah, that's exactly what I thought too! =) great visual!

  • Also, isn't Eternal Union with God the--in a non-pornographic sense--"centerfold" of human existence? If you think West is trying to bring the Bible down, you are misunderstanding him. If you take West in context, you will see that he is not trying to lower the Bible; but instead he is trying to raise our understanding of what our sexual desires were originally created to point to: true love. West uses terminology people can relate with, and he then tries to points them above and beyond it.

  • kreitzr1, you are missing the point, which was that Hefner's misguided lifestyle began as a rebellion against the misguided puritan mindset of "body = bad". West never said that all of our bad decisions are our parents' fault. I guess you're point is that you are a stronger and wiser person than Hefner. Good!

West then points out that sadly much of the world has followed Hefner's delusion of eating from a garbage can (pornography) and calling it the deluxe all-you-can-eat banquet (God's love).

  • Oh please -- all our bad decisions are our parents' fault? I was raised in a German family with little hugging and somehow managed to gow up without becoming a hedonist. Hefner sounds like a man with a guilty conscience looking for a scapegoat.

Christopher West makes some good points, but as Alice von Hildebrand says, he is too cavalier. Calling the Song of Songs the Bible's "centerfold" is inexcusable. What image are you creating in people's minds?

  • Chris: I have some of your books and think you are very good at educating on the Catholic faith. Please contact Al Kresta and try to do an interview with him to set the record straight. He is also a good educator, but seems to have gotten the wrong idea from the ABC piece. I'm glad you got the word out through the mass media, but of course they skew some of the message and have worried some good people. I know there is nothing to worry about, but they need to be reassured. God Bless!

  • God bless your apostolate Christopher West.

  • There are a few ways, I am sure there is an editing program that would allow you to subtitle the video and then you could upload it. Your best option is to contact Christopher at his website, its listed at the end of the spot and ask him to send you a copy of the video so that you can record a new audio track. He will probably want to have an independent translator verify your translation and then if he approves he will probably let you post his copyright-protected work with permission.
