Well i guess you could say this is my first video with me. Last christmas i aquired th leather covered fender telecaster in the style of waylon's, i dream come true. So i thought i try and show off a bit and see if i can duplicate the waylon sound with my phaser, it's tooken me ages to create this sound, and as far as ive seen, this is the best waylon sound ive ever heard from a guitar other than the real deal. Hope you like this video, if you do, who knows, i may make more.

  • VERY nice! Is there something special you're doing with that Telecaster to give it that "whooshing" sound? Sounds great!

  • @asgaard636 Hey man, Main effect comes from a phase 90, this is the same pedal which waylon used in his 70's outlaw years, there is also some extra bass to make the lower notes more boomy with a touch or reverb. Also a good idea to have your tone high to make the higher note louder and more pickier if you catch my drift.

    Many thanks!!

  • Great sound. That sounds exactly like his rhythm style, and your lead is great too. I notice you don't use a pick. Waylon always kept a pick tucked in his hand somewhere (I keep mine between the knuckles of my index finger) and he'd pull it out to pick lead. I've heard some people say that he kept it between his palm and his ring finger, but I I could never get used to holding a pick there while strumming.

  • Great man loved it

  • What kind of Tele is that and HOW DID YOU GET IT?!?!?!

  • Dude... that tone is SO tight. You've got it dialed in better than anyone else I've heard.

  • That's good pickin, sounds like Waylon...bet this guy is from Texas!!

  • I would love if you uploaded a lesson how to play this especially the licks Waylon does between verses.

  • @noliejames1980 Ol' Hoss also used Randall and Music Man amps, but he mostly used Fender Twin Reverb or Super Twin Reverb, or whatever it was. I get a quite good waylon sound with a Fender Frontman 65r. :)

  • @dukeboy01 hey man where did you get the replica of waylons tele i been looking for one for years i am getting close to just covering mine in my own lether lol

  • Great job enjoyed this sounds great!

  • where did u get that jacket for ur tele
