Crete, IL --- Driver Ryan Anderson, the second leading driver among the Balmoral Park driving colony in 2007, will be on the shelf for the remainder of the 2007 season and the start of the 2008 racing season due to a broken femur after taking a nasty spill in Sunday's (Dec. 23) first race.
The three-horse incident occurred towards the back of the field in the final stretch drive and also involved drivers Art Gregory, Jr. and Brandon Simpson. Those two, and all three horses involved in this mishap managed to escape serious injury, but Anderson was stepped on by the trailing horse, resulting in the broken femur.
The 27-year-old Crete, Ill. resident was transported from Balmoral Park to Olympia Fields Medical Center where he is currently being treated for the broken femur.
The horse coming down the strech that fell, Looked like the driver was just throwing the lines at him coming down the strech, right before he went down ,it looked like he almost took out another horse a few secs before this happend...

My dad was in a terrible accident where he flew 20 feet in the air and then was run over by 4 horses. He was in rough shape. This accident could have been avoided if the driver would have watched his left line and not hit the other horse. That is where it started. Nut those things happen.
