An idea was born:
The film producer Robert Broellochs (Camelot film productions Germany) together his brother Michael Broellochs (Camelot film productions Germany) and their close music producer/musician friend Pit Schoenpflug (BLIZZ music productions Germany) got to know Howard Marks at a party in Amsterdam.
Off-the-cuff the four of them created the idea of a music film documentary about the impressive philosopher, music loving ex-gangster and man-about-town Howard Marks.
Shortly after the "GOD-SMOKED PRODUCTION" was founded.
Robert Broellochs who also is a musician (guitar / vocals) is a successful producer of over 300 music clips with international artists (MTV / VIVA), commercials (Mercedes / Pro7 Sat 1 Group), short films and documentaries (street kids of Bogota). He is a joint owner of one of the most successful music film productions in Germany called Camelot film (founded in 1991).
Robert Broellochs is supported by his brother Michael Broellochs, also a film producer and his partner in the film producing company.
The two of them have been strongly influenced by their father who was passionate about filming. They are a perfectly matched team: The creative musician / director Robert Broellochs, and his no less creative brother Michael Broellochs, also a film producer.
Pit Schoenpflug is a musician and owner of the recording studio BLIZZ MUSIKLABOR. The talented artist has been working as a composer and producer for international artists. He has composed sound tracks and has received golden and platinum discs for his work. Apart from music productions, commercial jingles and sound design he is a passionate musician with his own band.
With the "GOD SMOKED PRODUCTION" the successful trio for the first time gets together for a momentous undertaking: GOD SMOKED, the MOVIE.
Robert Broellochs, director / musician:
„We actually have 40 to 50 music clips. We add the sound to Howards statements and afterwards I am visualizing the songs. The contents of these various music clips always corresponds with Howards philosophical statements. The clips are as different and manifold as Howard himself. And naturally as different as the various artists and musicians who have been adding the sound to his statements or will be dealing with this.
Pit Schoenpflug, composer/musician:
„We have taken the coolest essences of Howards interviews / philosophies, practically released them and composed some of our own songs out of them. This has almost become an obsession. The result is so convincing that we are creating more and more ideas out of it. More and more musicians, composers and DJs are joining our project.
Michael Broellochs, producer:
„Well, first a documentary, then a few songs now the result is a soundtrack / docu in a full length DVD. Some of the songs/arrangements are being produced by well-known musicians.
I am incredibly proud to have support of the „invisible narrator who will combine the clips with each other. He is one of Germanys best known singers/rap musicians.
We have accompanied Howard Marks for many weeks, filmed and interviewed him. Pit as well as my brother and I have spent every free moment in the studio and for half a year we have been filming the songs regulary.
