I live in the northern part of tornado alley and we usually get numerous tornados like this every year. However, 2011 was the quietest severe weather season we've had in years and years. We all expected the severe storms to continue moving north as the spring progressed but after what happened at Joplin the frequency of the storms lessened. We only had a couple of tornados instead of the usual 20 to 40 in our area.

@Trinity2774 Reed Timmer is not the best chaser out there. He's just the biggest self promoter. The 'best'...are the ones you dont hear a lot out of. Reed doesnt save lives. People like James Spann, save lives.

@latinluigi Naw, they were in Mississippi filming the EF5 near Philadelphia. However, I think they did get caught in the T-Town tornado when it was in its formative stage.

@bornagainjessie The city of Birmingham itself has been spared but the western and northern suburbs have been pummeled every 20 years or so.

With a tornado this big youre only safe underground and whoever is complaining about the comment needs to be quiet ever heard of freedom of speech? People die every hour.

God doesn't punish, He forgives....and this has NOTHING to do with bombings and all the political crap going on in the world. Have some respect for those who lost friends and family in that tornado and keep comments like that to yourself.
God help those people. We're keeping you in our prayers.

I got a sneaky feeling that crazy bastard Reed Timmer and his crazy ass gang of storm chasers will provide us with some crazy footage of this monster! My heart goes out to those affected.
