VU, I love you, but I put the Voidoids above you...theyre a great band, attitude, musicianship and creativity wise...VU can be too sow sometimes, when I need upbeat and paced songs
-

1967/1977
So it is true that 7 is a magical number

two fuckin awesome bands... i think it wouldn't be fair to compare them though... because lou reed didn't have a style to follow... the velvet underground made the basis of the punk... but richard hell kinda created the punk as we know it today using what the velvets did... im a huge fan of both...
i think you should do a video like that comparing the stooges to the dead boys....
heheh!

Best band of the '60s for sure! ;D

Ok, i'm definately going with the Velvets, it is a band that actually FORMED musical history, gotta respect that... :p

Velvets broke bounderies for that time in they're 1st ALBUM w/ the song "Heroin" not only musically but LYRICALLY, YOU CAN'T TEACH A CLASS ABOUT ROCK MUSIC W/OUT MENTIONING THE VELVETS cause of the fact that they Pioneerd, however u can skip Richard Hell when speaking bout Rock history -
The Velvets did to music what Pixies did, what Pink Floyd did,Beatles, "Kid A, what Nirvana gets credit for, ect Richard Hell was AWESOME but not important to mzk history

I agree - they're integral to modern music in the same way as the Rolling Stones and David Bowie.
If you're teaching the history of alternative rock, you can't skip Richard Hell. He kicked off CBGB's and inspired the Sex Pistols. He's important enough to mention, although few recognize it
