  • USAC had the new "speedway" Silver Crown cars that debuted about 5 years ago that had bigger bumpers, but they don't run them anymore. The traditional Silver Crown car that you see in this video is what is running on the tracks now as Silver Crown cars. They just finished racing at ORP in Indianapolis, IN. We will also be running our dirt Silver Crown car in a few weeks at Springfield, IL and DuQuoin, IL on the 1-mile track, and possibly at Terre Haute, IN in October.

  • I am the owner of the car. To clarify, Silver Crown cars have a 70-gallon fuel bladder and still do. The car is carrying less fuel at this track since it is only a 3/4 mile track. Silver Crown typically races 100 laps on 1 mile tracks (100 miles). On a smaller track such as this one (3/4 mile), we were still running a 100 lap race so we only had to run a total of 75 miles. Hence, we put less methanol (not gas as racerboy12345 seems to think) in the fuel bladder.

  • i seen this exact same crash from a differant angle!

  • hes trying to get out before it stopps lol

  • Most promoters do not want to spend the extra money to keep the drivers safe. The sad part is if it were not for the drivers the promoter would not have a show!

  • What do you mean the first time in history that an open wheel broke a bladder and caught fire. I have been racing since I was 13 in Australia and I have smashed a bladder 3 times which has caught fire. Broken bladder & spark = bang. Not that hard to work out. Also Donny Shatz crash he had at PCR in Australia....Ummmm Broken bladder, spark & fuel = FIRE. Ask your Uncle Johnny. lol

  • The first time in open wheel history? Uhhhh.

  • this man is come out from the hells pass!!

  • Okay, just to clarify, Johnny's car broke, he lost control . The spotters were in radio communications with Tracy's team, but he didn't listen to them and tried to get up around him on the outside. This was the first time in the history of open wheel racing that the fuel bladder broke and started a fire like that. I don't blame Mr. Hines for his hip holding reaction, as he was also burned, and probably confused. My uncle Johnny is probably one of the finest racing drivers of all time!

  • sry that comment was not mine probably my sister or cosuin
