Scientists say a new lava flow has broken out at Kilauea, a volcano in Hawaii that has been continuously erupting for nearly three decades. The lava flow is entirely within Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and currently poses no hazard to residents. The location was less than half a mile (from the Kamoamoa fissure that erupted in March. Volcanologist Janet Babb said it was the first time lava has broken out at the volcano since March, aside from some that spilled out at the Puu Oo crater last week. The lava is moving down Kilauea's south flank. Kilauea is one of the world's most active volcanoes. It has been constantly erupting since 2 January 1983.
