Racer X guitarist Bruce Bouillet gives some insight into his high-tech heavy metal soloing style in this instructional video, with special attention given to the basic modes, pentatonic and blues scales, and arpeggio sequences. The latter department is really where Bouillet is most helpful, as he demonstrates how to sequence various arpeggio ideas all over the neck; much of the other information is fairly rudimentary. Includes some live performances of Racer X instrumentals featuring the rhythm section of that band.

  • 9:43 - Now that's fuckin cool!

  • those ibanez back then were the rawest wildest ibanez ever crafted...

  • 5:31 he's still doing vibrato while he's just talking and not even picking the note

  • I hate baring strings when sweeping arpeggios...totally screws me up (and Bruce isn't doing a very good job at them, either).

The fingering on that last minor one is wrong...only way it would work is to have a 2 string bar on the last two notes.
