During the past few years, WPT has been an innovative leader in public television as it has told the stories of Wisconsin soldiers through the groundbreaking and award-winning Wisconsin World War II Stories and Wisconsin Korean War Stories projects.

The next installment in this series will be a sweeping look at the experiences and impact of the Vietnam War on Wisconsin soldiers and civilians with Wisconsin Vietnam War Stories. The project won't air on WPT until 2010, but work has already begun around the state to find veterans that will tell their stories.

As a special Web exclusive, Be more Tuned In is proud to present an exclusive sneak preview of some of the show's interviews. To learn more about Wisconsin Vietnam War Stories, visit WisconsinStories.org.

Wisconsin Vietnam War Stories is being produced as a partnership of the Wisconsin Historical Society and WPT, in association with the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs.

Willie Williams of De Forest and David Kies of Verona are just two of the many veterans who are sharing their memories of Vietnam for the latest in Wisconsin Public Television's portrayal of war through firsthand accounts, Wisconsin Vietnam War Stories. Willie Williams served in the 25th Infantry Division in Cu Chi in 1966 and 1967, while David Kies served with the 173rd Airborne Division during the same period as the ten-year war was heating up.

  • I have to say the vietnam war was one of the bloodiest wars we have ever had , the tet offensive, and all those anti-war groups. I remeber that people went to canada to escape the draft. not only that but we had really bombed the hell out the viet cong and NVA and they still survived after all those bombings. Its amazing how much courage an average NVA soldier had. Thank you man, your a real hero
