@LambChowder1 It was the Catholic church that stifled progress for over 1,000 years in Europe! When Protestantism, in part influenced by the Renaissanse, broke away from the Mother church, the enlightenment happened, thus creating the world we have today.A world in which humans live longer, know more, nobody illiterate (not able to read), education for rich and poor alike. Leave religion behind in the last millenium - it is detremental to thinking, progress and humanity in general.

@kingslegion1 an atheist this is a bunch of bs. the catholic church was the legitamite ecumenical body for christianity, it was just abandoned by resentful, illiterate anti authoritarians who wanted couldnt stomach the idea of someone having a kind of divine office and relationship with god when they couldn't. their pride didn't accomodate the whole confession thing, and whats more they just wanted an excuse to go out and sate their bloodlust, protestantism has committed 10x as many murders
