Sorius Samura looks at the aftermath of the civil war in Sierra Leone, in particular, the illicit diamond trade that financed the war. Samura attempts to evaluate the effectiveness of The Kimberley Process as well as looking at just how the diamond trade affects ordinary communities in Africa and how easy it is to still smuggle blood diamonds.
The way i see,the white people that goes to Africa to buy diamonds, they´re not the major cause of the problem, but if they are, they´re probably 15% guilty. What causes damage to a countries economie is the billions dollars bussiness that politicians do for their own good.If all that money would be invested in education and health nobody would be talking about Conflict diamonds.Big companies invest in dictators,to control their people and avoid conflicts but forget that the same people needs to eat

@dagaalyahaanzz Most of African countries depends on western decisions,if european countries needs diamonds, africans got it.If they need oil,Africa has it.I dont think that creating political parties will help anyway, but a deep and a radical reform would. Most countries need education(that´s vital),need some industry in order to create jobs so that people can leave the fields. And the most important thing, they desesperately need Patriotism if they are to fight corruption and the profiteers.

Yeah basically they stay poor because their friends, neighbours are ready to kill them for whatever they find. Then the government will come and kill them for it, then ultimately sell it to some white guy for a tenth of its value. Its stupidity and only stupidity. There is NO country in Africa where they are able to organise a proper, prosperous, safe society.

Ordinary people dont use the diamond money to buy drugs or guns, dont be ridiculous, they´re starving and need to feed their children.Look at whats happening in Congo...There are no jobs left,no industry to give people jobs, what do you think they should do?Steal?kill?War is over in S.Leone but corruption continues, that´s why you dont see any changes. The best way to make money is still diamonds, unfortunately.Stop with that nonsense.

@Janusha Africans have this mentality:Today is what matters,we´ll see about tomorrow...Other thing is that if a common people finds a diamond, even if gets lucky enough to sell it he will probably be robbed, let´s imagine he finds a 10.000$ worth rock, how is he going to know that value? They only know that diamonds are priceless to europeans and white people, that´s why is so cheap.Ordinary people dont buy guns and drugs, dont be silly, thats a war affair.

If I found gold in my garden. I would get rich. When africans find gold, diamonds, whatever, they manage to stay poor. This is weird.

No comments? This video is awesome. This is really still happening and the full effects have not been realized. The full effects are sitting in gigantic Debeers vaults, being rationed out at a certain rate to keep the price stable, hey wait a minute...Maybe THEY should be running our economy. Even in their abundance, they have kept their value by supply meeting demand hmmm. Its the same with dollars..except that there are some huge holders of cash that could inflict enormous financial damage
