If you are looking for the difference in Roddick's current forehand versus when he swung out a little more on it you should look at his finish for the answer, not his takeback.

yeah, in today's game, where racket technology is allowing for more spin, roddick's current forehand is more useful. His forehand may not be as flat as it used to be, but he is evolving with the game. Look at Blake, his tennis stayed the same and that is why he isn't doing as well.

Uhh, his forehand continued to be powerful even after he changed his takeback. Check out 2003-2004 Roddick. He'd begun evolving it to the type of takeback it is now and it was just as powerful as it was here, if not more. Takeback's only gonna change the quality of the actual shot production so much. It's more about what he's doing with the follow through. He's packed it with more spin in recent years.
